講座內容提要：

在后結構主義?語言轉向?（the linguistic turn）之后，?新物質主義?（new materialism）如何重新啟動西方哲學脈絡下的聲音敘述乃是文學研究的重要契機。一反歐陸哲學長期以來偏重「視覺中心」(ocularcentrism)的文學傾向，本論文嘗試整理與回顧聲音理論，包括巴特（Roland Barthes）、賽爾（Michel Serres）、坎恩（Brian Kane）、卡巴萊洛（Adriana Cavarero）、席翁（Michel Chion） 和儂晞（Jean-Luc Nancy）等聲音哲學闡述，同時也關注當代聲音的政治性。文章援引的小說文本主要為卡爾維諾（Italo Calvino）的〈國王在傾聽〉（A King Listens）和辛哈（Indra Sinha）的《動物人》（Ａnimal’s People），一方面指出視覺中心哲學，即「在場形上學」（metaphysics of presence）的洞見與不見，另一方面也凸顯聲音（對象）的物質能動性，期能開展未來聲音敘述和文學研究的新方向。　

蔡振興教授簡介：
